Love Notes

I found some old file folders at St. V's and a vintage cash book and turned them into these Love Note booklets for Valentines Day. I cut the file folders and the paper from the cash book to fit the file folder, stapled it inside and voila! Each page is perforated so a person may rip out the note neatly. I used stamps for the "Love Notes" letters and a glittered foam heart from the Target Buck Spot.

From Scrap Crappy to Scrap Happy!

When I went thrifting last week, I found one of these old scrapbooks. I see them all the time and thought it was a shame they were so ugly and went unused. But, the light bulb went off last week and I decided I'd cover it with a vintage collage. I had some old papers, buttons & trim hanging around and I started modge podging away. I used a coat of brown stain to make it look old. I did the back in brown stain too. Then spray painted it with clear coat. Then I took out the old shoelace holding it together and used a paper twine instead. On the inside I made a bookplate with photo corners.
The paper inside looks old too and I think it's great! Instead of using it as a photo album or scrapbook, I may just use it for sketches or taping ideas of stuff I want to do. It'd also make a great doodle journal.
This was very easy and fast to complete. I think I'm hooked and I'll have to make a few more as gifts!

Vintage Spool Pin Cushion
I have a bunch of vintage wooden spools and knew I would use them for something some day. I decided to make a new little pin cushion out of one. I decorated it with a felt ball acorn that I made and wrapped the bottom with the twine. The material is a vintage find and the pins are made with fimo clay. I used pinking sheers to cut the edges of the material. With embroidery thread, I made a running stitch, filled it with fiberfill and pulled the thread closed.
